w/c Illinois | Just so you know, you can spend a lot of money keeping an Early Riser in top shape as well. When the disc openers get to 13.5” they are due for replacement. The leading openers wear fastest, so you might get by with just replacing them once if you’re tight like me. The trailing openers get razor sharp, so watch your fingers. Opener shimming is not as tight or as critical as the Deere. Someone mentioned the firming point, but keep an eye on the “box” that mounts behind it. It wears pretty badly and will let loose soil fall into the trench before the seed gets there. They are available with hard surfacing for twice the cost. I just ran a bead of weld on mine. Shoup has a lot of parts available. | |
