If you pull a fuse the PTO on a 6400 will not run. If you disconnect the wire to the solenoid it should stop the PTO to my knowledge. If you drop the electrical current to the solenoid but it stops after you tap it there's a pretty good chance it's problems are in the valve itself . But you might want to double-check because some hydraulic clutch systems are just the opposite, like the front wheel assist on the same tractor will stay engaged when there is no power to the solenoid.


In this case the PTO needs 12V current to energize the solenoid, and turn the PTO on. The PTO clutch is hydraulicly engaged.

On the MFWD of these tractors, the MFWD clutch is spring applied, hydraulicly disengaged. So without current, or a working solenoid valve, your MFWD would be engaged all the time. The PTO is opposite of that.
