Subject: Corn planter adjustments for less smeering....

Shelburne Ontario Canada
7000 8 30 inch. Conditions are much less than ideal. Some neighbours are going . No dust an black ground. Picked some rocks an it building up on the rock rake yet. Its called a harriston loam type soil. Pretty sandy for most part. Fairly forgiving as in rip it open wet leave it a sunny day an its beautyful. But we have ripped some open an over nite its black again an no sun to dry it. Far from ideal. Can still make balls with the hands. Worryed planting will smeer the seed trench an corn will get screwed. Any settings or ground speed that can help this? We drive 5mph. Nothing more nothing less generally. If 3.5 mph would help i be dum enuf to maybe try it . Dont know... just hate the situation. Should be done planting an we havent got a seed in the ground. Think if we have to completely mud it in we wait till first week of june.
Any ideas?
We run a cult with no harrow. Open up so it drys off every yr . Just seems to be wat this dirt needs . Have tryed different things but have done this now with good result. Very cool damp climate in this swamp. Leave it sit one to 2 days . Run air flow across. Then hit it at 4 inch at 8 mph with tigermate II an 5 bar spike harrow generally beautyful powder seed bed. Lots of loose trash on top. Then pack an go in with planter.
Beans we pack be hind seeder. Just for insight of wat we do.
