This is more off topic but your comment sparked a question that has often come up for me. I often read here about how opposed many are to our current crop insurance system and that fact that it is taxpayer subsidized. I'm no longer arguing the point and I don't pretend to understand the mechanics of the insurance business but .... along with years of huge payouts (indemnities), there should also be years of very good income from the premiums collected. I realize the individual insurance companies (approved insurance providers) have to be making some of that money but the government should be also. There is never any mention of that side of the equation. Can you shed any light on that?
