The market will want to wait, yes.

When we had $10 beans you would have been correct.

With $7 beans, and the market saying they should go lower with a normal or record crop, late planting beans into mud to create a bigger surplus of beans is not appealing compared to taking a PP corn payment and knowing what chickens hatched. PP is not making good money, but it is money in hand and you know you have real low overhead the rest of the year. In a poor grain market that is a noticeable and worthwhile option for many.

Fun money from the govt as a bean payment MFP could change that equation a little; but it is so very hard to guess what and when and if and what format such handout programs will come to be, for many taking the PP corn payment on corn acres might be the surest bet of many poor or mediocre options.
