It is funny you mention inflation on land, if you take the inflation out of your land or put it in at purchase price you sure shrink the ole net worth and your pride. It is amazing how little money was actually made compared to inflation. We put land at purchase cost on financials, keeps your ego in check and realize just how little we have really done financially by operations. I know investment is product of operations but if you don’t invest wisely you are running in circles.
So true , land, machinery,houses,ect. only look good because of inflation......many here on NAT wasn't farming in '80's when land/machinery experienced deflation.......for us that were farming & had debts it left a lasting impression like what the ones who went through the Great Depression seen |
