Central Ga
There are two counties in brown in the center of the state. (IN 555s post) We are in the southern one. We just had one of the wettest falls ever. January was the same. It backed way off in February and has been that way since, at least for here. There are small pockets that caught some rain...some big rains in the last two weeks. We are dry and hot...and it’s getting hotter. Forecast temps for this weekend and Memorial Day are high 90s to 100. Don’t think we got over 95 all of last summer, except for maybe a day or two. It’s not even June yet. We say in this area we are always seven days away from a drought. That’s not exactly accurate, but the point is with the right conditions and time of year we can go from great shape to a serious situation very quickly. There is not much dryland corn here....mostly dry pivot corners...but what there is will be shot pretty quick if we don’t get a good soaking rain, and there is no mention of any rain chance in the seven day forecast.
