I don't think he said everyone is lying. The point he is trying to make is those of us that are in areas that are lagging behind hard on planting may have the misperception that the problem is more widespread or worse than it is. By about 3;30 this afternoon everyone will be cussing the USDA and yelling conspiracy because they came in a few percentage points higher than what they think it should be on planting progress. When all is said and done whatever the number is it will still be well behind the five year average and we will be arguing over a few points one way or the other.
