Here dooryard is a common term and refers to the house, barn, shed etc that are commonly located on a farm. My farm has fields and a dooryard. My bare land has fields only. They used to have a dooryard before we knocked them down. Dooryard must be a regional term although we are only 75 miles apart.
Not that far from you, but I haven't heard of a "dooryard". I would refer to it as a "farmstead" or "building site". |
