Subject: RE: So where is corn price headed?

We'll know more after next Monday's crop report and the noon weather report. Typically we are 80% planted nationwide by Monday but last Monday we were at 30% and 1% in my neighborhood. I put seed in the planter this morning and with a 15% chance of rain it poured before I made it out of the shed. I only had 50 acres worked but it was our first adventure out of the yard. The weather report looks like we won't plant an acre before June. This has never happened that I can remember. Between prevent plant and the late planting I wouldn't be betting on a 170 yield. I'm not sure how much demand can drop but I find it hard to believe we won't cut the carryover in half at the rate we're going. I know I'm in the wettest part of the world but going east of me doesn't look much better. Will the low wheat price hold the corn price down? I'll be surprised if we are over 45% planted nationwide by Monday with a wet week in the forecast.
