Subject: Insect that resembles a bee

MT-ND
So the normal bee people came and dropped their bee boxes off like usual about a couple miles away on the neighbors land, and right on schedule, we get something that looks like a bee. When they leave, it leaves.

It has a black head and body, and has about 2 or 3 sets of distinct/bold black and yellow stripes on it's rear end, like a bumble bee, but then from about where the wings connect to the last set of stripes, covering a good part top side, is a big orange/rust colored spot. It doesn't seem to mind people/animals, and me following it around, and doesn't make much noise until it is up to speed. The wasps and hornets also seem to disappear when they are around.

I can't find anything on google that matches this, and I haven't ran into the bee people to ask about it. Any ideas on what it is?
