Headed to the shop this morning and one of the cows was bellowing. I thought that was strange but had some work that needed don and went on to to shop. Later on a calf was bawling and again I ignored it. Walked out of the shop again this afternoon and heard the calf again. I could see the cows laying down under the trees but it didn't sound like the sound was coming from there. Went back in the shop and got my field glasses and scanned the pasture. Thought to myself "darn it". There was a heifer calf in my hog trap. So I jumped on the 4 wheeler and went to let her out. By the time I got there her momma was right behind me. I wasn't using the trap right now and had bars across the opening and the gate closed. The calf had scooted under the bars and pushed the gate open. Without the trap being set, the gate closed as soon as she moved out of the way.
