sw illinois
In my area meaning cost of corn I can put a hog out the door for $130 more or less. The guy who doesn’t rent a building can save $10 and if you own the sows and the sow farm is efficient you can save another $8 or $10 so that person is down to 110 or 112 per pig but that’s if everything is hitting on all cylinders.

That $80 to $90 is carcass price so a 280 live hog puts out a 210 lb carcass but that 80 has a 8 to 10 dollar basis or it did, its better into June so let’s say
.75 times 210 gives you $157.5 so right now I’m making $27 per head but we lost that much or more (on average) from the first week in August 2018 until the end of February 2019.
