The Mavic inbuilt height limit is 500 metres which is over 1500 feet, however it will by default be on 400 ft until you change the setting.
In hilly locations, flying above 400 feet from take off point is perfectly OK (e.g. up a slope) - even if going by the book.
Although technically if you took off from the hill you might need descend to stay within local rules.
Worth knowing that even with negative altitude the RTH height will not be affected if there are obstacles it would need go over.
