I think Lasik is great. Had both eyes done at same time around year 2000. I think it has been greatly improved since.
Find good MD doctor who performs surgery (not a staff person). Someone that does 100 a month not 10.
Things to consider:
avoid dusty/Smokey environments and work conditions for at least a month. They irritate the eye.
If work requires intensive use of eyes, like reading or fine work, eyes will get tired faster for a month or so.
Full effect took about a year for my eyes.
Night driving at first had halo's around lights. They disappeared after about 6 months.
If doc does not tell you , ask for recommended lubricating eye drops brand.
If ok with doc, put some type of moisture in eye before sleeping and as soon as you wake up each day for the first year or so. You will know when you don't need it any more.
Keep fingers out of eyes.
I would try to avoid winter surgery.
I needed cheap reading glasses for first 2-3 months.
