I would in general agree that you shouldn't leave a poor stand. But as screwed up as the weather has been this year, and with the amount left to be planted the first time, it would be difficult for me to tear up a very marginal stand for fear of getting a worse stand on the replant. Calendar is starting to say patch up what you have and move on.
Having said that, what little is planted around here is what was the driest ground (I use that term loosely, very little was actually dry enough), so good chance it will be the first to dry this time, whenever that turns out to be. Here, we are probably not going to get much done before the weekend, if anything, and rain in the forecast for 8 out of the next 14 days. May be looking at first week of June before we get back in the fields. Lots of hard decisions ahead.
