Subject: RE: Holstein Market Weights

Central Indiana
I usually shoot for 1450 to 1500 lbs, it usually takes me about 14 months, i don't use any implants may take less time if you used them, anybody i sell to want's no part of them, i buy my calves just weaned i start them out by hand feeding for a couple of weeks start them slow then gradually work them up to full feed, i just feed them shelled corn and pellets, usually a 34 percent protein pellet from Hubbard, then when they get about 700 lbs i switch them to a 40 percent pellet from Hubbard call t bone 40, if you have never raised Holstein ill warn you they like corn, but as far as beef goes ill put them up against any other beef any day if fed right, good luck i enjoy it.
