SE MT | On the last oil change which is the second one since I've owned it, I found these pieces on the magnetic drain plug. They seem to form a cylindrical washer that I thought may have been from The Rocker arm shaft. Removed the valve cover and checked it over thoroughly on top could find nothing wrong. Only thing I can think at this point is that it's leftover pieces from the previous owner overhaul about 30,000 miles ago, or it's something out of the front cover area. The engine runs fine the engine sounds fine no reason to suspect anything wrong other than finding Parts in the oil pan. I showed it to a friend of mine who's a Navistar International mechanic, and he is unable to identify it.
Best I can tell it's some sort of hardened washer, and it does have a slight groove cut in it all the way around, either from where or from being machined that way. Truck is a 97 international 4700.
Any ideas?
