It can head. Just get it at the milk stage. Makes awesome dry hay.
To the op, like driver said, lots of factors to consider. We are 4.80 wheat so 50-80bu is worth combining. We really have no choice cause it is turning and we have more rain on the way. I'm usually hard wheat and have all soft this year. We shall see if we get it combined.
