NE KS | No first hand experience but a friend of mine is buying wrapped rye bales for $70-80 a ton which are almost half water. Another friend who has been baling dry wheat hay the last couple years says you have to mow it right as it is shooting a head out. I thought about baling mine but I see it is starting to head and no way the ground will be dry enough to get it put up so i'll just spray it and plant beans. Apparently if its done right cows really like it and with the possible short hay crop again this year I could see it being worth $100 a ton. | |
