Iowa | Got a 426 in an n6, it’s been shelled and replaced with another 426. Got a 7060 with one too. Like the engine but you have to watch the bearings, and when u replace them put new rod bolts in and torque them to spec. Yes they were running fast in the n6 and 7080/8070. Otherwise I like them. Anymore 2500 gets you another at a salvage yard- rest of the tractor is really solid. To me the 426 is more “lively” than the 436 when it’s in the proper rpm range, lower than 2000 and she falls flat pretty bad. They got the name cause they were built at Allis Harvey plant, and that was their weak link - even as “big al” in the truck market. | |
