Subject: RE: IH 5088 vs AC 8050

Nebraska, The land of corn and cattle

Id go with the AC, especially if its a PS, have an 8010 PS and Ive run an 88 series a bit. I know which one Id rather run all day. I know a lot of guys have some love for the 88 series but IMHO if that's the best that they could come up with, IH needed to die. The best part of the whole 88 series is the engine.

If you got in blindfolded youd think the AC was a pretty modern tractor, if you tried to get in the IH blindfolded, youd probably be killed trying to get in.

The 426 made good power and in the 30 and 50s were pretty reliable, the 70s were turning too hard and gave the engine a bad reputation.

IIRC 5088s had problems with the rearends, my grandpa and uncle have one that seems like the diff is locked all the time, drives fine but wont turn.
