That is certainly true. The only point I was trying to make was the functionality of the y splice is built into it's harness. The reason they don't simply have one CAN plug like every other module is the cable length. My having a CAN in and a CAN out port in the harness, they keep stub length within spec. Inside the harness, the CAN lines actually go "down and back" in the harness, and near the ECU end of the harness the CAN hi and low wires that go to the ECU splice off of those lines. It's very much the same as the concept at work in an Integra ISOBUS harness.

We had OT2+ for years, and the CAN A back-end terminator was on the implement, which means anytime the tractor was not connected to an implement, CAN A was not properly terminated. I'm not saying it's proper, but it never gave us trouble. In fairness, the tractor did very little steering without being connected to an implement.
