Sudan grass is a warm season crop---Rye is a cool season crop. Take a sudan crop off in August, drill rye immediately after baling, graze or bale before frost or after a freeze on the dead sudan and the green rye, bale or graze rye the next spring.

Edit.. I hear all these horror stories about prussic acid but I have never seen a problem if using some common sense.
