if you do not need a console screen to look at and just need a box to provide steering and light bar type capability you can use an S or S2 which can be had for not much money probably less than $500 for sure. I have that set up in a tractor i use for spraying and a 4wd articulated that is used for tillage. both function quite well using S2's in both. i am assuming that the e-drive you have is still the old series with the bang bang valve. do not know if the older S series will work newer valve set up.
