SE wisconsin | My heeler was hit in my yard when he was 10 months old. We had just lost one exactly a year earlier that was the same age under different circumstances that we could not help. So this one we had to try and help even though I had never really believed in any great expenditures for a farm dog. After many trips to the vet and a couple surgeries we saved the leg. He started to use it but later he found it was easier to pick it up and take off. Now after eight years it pretty much just is shriveled up and hanging there with no muscles from lack of use. He is a great dog and I'm glad we saved him but I would've probably just taken it off right away in hindsight. FYI: his nickname is half acre(because that's what I've got in him!) | |
