Minnesota not quite SD | If I wasn't farming I go be an applicator in a heartbeat!
I guess I feel you need to experience all aspects in the agronomy world. By having those experiences helps make you a better overall agronomist!
Example
I had a guy who used to do precision work for me. He would do my zones and prescriptions for me. The problem I had is he never understood why a Terra Gator wouldn't spread they way he wanted it too. He said the coop is doesn't know how to make is prescriptions work and that they had to deal with.
The bottom line was he would do the prescriptions and the rates would go from 400 lbs down to 0 and than back up again. Nothing would ever come out right.
So I fired him and now I just work with coop and I do most of it myself.
The morale of the story is being an applicator helps make you a more rounded agronomist! Because you experience what a machine all can do! | |
