SW Ontario | My old Cat forklift with gerotor orbitrol power steering has a problem.
Over the last few weeks (probably put 2 hrs on per week) I noticed that it was getting harder to steer the forklift. Then I heard a snap or bang, like a shaft breaking, and now the forklift steers hard to the left (no power assist) but normally to the right. There are no broken linkages and no (new) hydraulic leaks.
I suspect that the gerotor orbitrol unit failed. Any hints / experience in making a more definite diagnosis?
