Not knowing soil tests, if all you are wanting is some N down...here's how I would approach it.
In furrow is very limiting on the amount of N you can place there. I would re-plumb your in furrow to instead run a stainless steel tube or hose behind the closing wheels. Set it up a couple inches off the row and just dribble on the surface. If you have drag chains, use them to help put some dirt on top of the liquid.
We normally run 30 units of N with 28 2x2 on our planter, then follow with NH3 sidedressed as soon as possible.
Other option would be spraying the 28 on with a pre-emerge herbicide, then leveling the ground. But that doesn't sound like what you want to do herbicide timing wise.
