Bruce NW Ia,
My farm is on a busy state highway. When I bought it, the previous owners had left lots of stuff in the house and barns. A FREE sign became my best friend.
It’s amazing how fast stuff disappears, and what people are willing to take. Very rarely does anything last overnight.
Old wood doors that are broke in half? Yep.
Rotten window frames? Yep.
Recliners with the springs sticking out of the seats? You bet.
A dresser that had hosted a raccoon family during its decade in the hay loft? Of course!
What really amazed me was the guy that stopped to get an old desk I had out. We were working in the house so I kept my eye on him just for the heck of it.
After loading the desk up, HE GRABS THE PLYWOOD FREE SIGN! Throws it in the truck bed and drives off as I’m walking out.
A 3’x3’ piece of plywood with “FREE” painted on it. Evidently he needed it???
I’m surprised everyone else left the sign.
