Deep southern Illinois | Where is the water coming from is the question. Is it coming from above the field? Road ditch or culvert into field? Just a valley between ridges in the field itself?
The water needs to go elsewhere. Either with a diversion higher up the hill to route water to a ditch around your field, a single tile line with a surface inlet and a levee, or a combination of the above. As long as the water is coming across your field with enough force to cause this erosion, you’ll never fix it. I like the Donald trump approach: BUILD A WALL! And make it tall. Unless the dry dam absolutely has to be in the field, then slope it to where it’s a breeze to plant across. | |
