Subject: RE: Fixed small ditches in field

Deep southern Illinois
Where is the water coming from is the question. Is it coming from above the field? Road ditch or culvert into field? Just a valley between ridges in the field itself?

The water needs to go elsewhere. Either with a diversion higher up the hill to route water to a ditch around your field, a single tile line with a surface inlet and a levee, or a combination of the above. As long as the water is coming across your field with enough force to cause this erosion, you’ll never fix it. I like the Donald trump approach: BUILD A WALL! And make it tall. Unless the dry dam absolutely has to be in the field, then slope it to where it’s a breeze to plant across.
