Subject: RE: Real World cover crop

North Carolina
We are in the early stages of cover cropping after no tilling for about 5 years now. Our current process is crude and simple. Broadcast bin run winter wheat immediately after harvest and see what happens. Cost around $5.00. This was our second year of this and the stands were suprisingly good. Scared me planting into all the residue the first year, but not so much now. Our biggest problem is getting it down early enough. We would like to expand into other species, but they will have to be cost effective. Our biggest goals are erosion control and soil cover.
