SW WI | I’m in such a sparse hog populated area....I’m 1 of 3 guys left other than 4H pigs in my county. Because of that guys that I was in a feeder pig group with wanted me to raise a turn of replacement gilts...I’m isolated.
That said, vet from the group was here to vaccinate and his concern is real. They are so dense of population that things that shouldn’t spread airborne.....sometimes seem to spread that way. If ASF arrives in a densely populated area...I just don’t know how you contain it. Not saying it goes nation wide but could be a real hot zone.
Maybe it’s been the beat down of the last couple of years but the guys I talk to yet just think something is going to curtail any “new plateau” for prices. And that right now just seems like ASF
