Subject: RE: Bulk Commodity Growers,,,why Farm?........

Southern Idaho
My family has been farming since the 50s. It has treated us very well. When I first started farming I planned to do it for the rest of my life. Bought my first and only farm back in 2007. Then land values skyrocketed. I wanted to buy another farm and waited patiently for prices to get reasonable. There were some farms for sale that I really wanted and I could have made it work. My dad helped keep me in line helping me realize that land is way over-valued and anyone buying land just to farm it in this area is making a terrible mistake. Recently we realized we are better off to start selling land and invest elsewhere. Maybe someday land prices will come back to a reasonable level and we'll start investing in the farm again. But that is not now and does not seem likely in the near future. Putting money into farming at least in my area looks like a really terrible investment of both time and money right now.
