Sometime in that time frame or late '70's Smithfield Foods equity was less than a million ....... losses for any length of time is brutal on business,cash flows and not re-investing...lot's of hog farms with out much land base was struggling up to 3 weeks ago........farmed all through that era and there was many farms which were doing really good in '70's could not handle '80's rices and interest rates-missed some good opportunities in past 10 -15 yrs. as its still in the back of your mind just like those who survived the depression
