North Central Iowa | To get a true NDVI, you will need a special camera that can capture the Near Infrared (NIR) band. A regular camera will capture the RGB (Red,Green, Blue) values and there is some software that can create a "false" NDVI from an RGB camera. That NDVI will show differences in a crop when part of the crop is shaded vs. the part that is in the sun. A true NIR camera will see through that and show the true NDVI.
