The restaurant business is brutal. If you do it right it is very hard work and long hours. If you or none of your family has any restaurant experience I wouldn’t even consider it. Watch a few episodes of a show like “Kitchen Nightmares “ and you will see what happens when inexperienced people decide it would be “fun” to run a restaurant. If you do go ahead with this idea the one thing you need to do to even have a prayer of success is to keep overhead low. You can’t pay big money for an already established business and expect to make it. You can’t afford to build new or do extensive renovations on a building either. Starting with a big mortgage or just an investment of capital will doom you to failure before you start. You can’t wrap up hundreds of thousands of dollars in building and equipment. If you can clear that hurdle the next thing you need to decide is what you can offer that is unique. You need to offer something that nobody else is offering. Good luck to you if you decide to go ahead with your plan.
