There’s a bar/restaurant about 2 miles down the road from me that two different owners have run belly-up. It’s by the highway, and I think with time and good management it could make a fantastic diner/biker bar, but it’s far enough from anything that it’s got to be a destination. There just aren’t enough people driving between Viroqua and Prairie du Chien Wisconsin to survive on drop-ins. The old bar in town is still there, although shut down. I heard that it was locked up with everything there, so that would mean two turnkey bars in a town that the only other notable establishment is a Catholic Church that only holds mass once a year. The old bar did a good business, and a few old timers still talk about Bill and Cecilia’s.
