I tried a new speed queen, wasn't impressed, googled it and found out that they changed them drastically I guess from the old ones. There's a YouTube video somewhere comparing a "new" one to an "old" one(by Lorain furniture I believe) and one comparing a "new" SQ to a Maytag "commercial"(by Maytag commercial)

I own that Maytag "commercial" and it cleans like my 25 year old one. Easy to find on their website, it's the only one with the old style dials. About as loud and takes as long as the old one, but it cleans cow and grease fine. They still make washers, quality...well I don't know, I've only owned it a year. The whirlpool stuff seems to be lasting.
