WC MN | About 5",deep and 2" over, all spring applied, two minutes to several days ahead of planter. Has not been an issue even on sand/gravel, our springs are always cold and wet plus OM is higher here 3-6%. Have been going to more half rate in spring just because filling every 25 acres gets old, then come back and side dress the rest with a lighter side dress rig on 60" spacing, same Montag cart. Only time we got burned (literally) was when changed setup and ended up with fert above the seed, oops. Luckily got rained out and noticed it, was a busy rainy spell fixing that. First year we strip tilled did 25 acres at full rate and saw no issues, this will be seventh year of strip till with fertilizer in strip. | |
