That way we can take advantage of the n in dap. And for the purpose of placing the fertilizer deep. It gets dry during the growing season every year here. When your top couple inches gets bone dry, the plants cant use the nutrients in that zone.

We ran 200 lbs dap, 100 lbs potash, 11 lbs elemental sulfur, and 60 lbs n from nh3 last year a month ahead of planting and saw a tremendous (visual) response.
