Subject: RE: Planting beans super early?

North Central Illinois
May 20 planting was a bit over 70. So, while I am not scared of later planting, earlier is better if weed control is satisfactory.

This was my first year growing medium protein dark hilum beans. My previous best field average with high protein clear hilums was 49. The variety specific premium isn't worth the yield drag if this past year was typical.

The net $ makes the time spent cultivating and walking beans seem worth it.
