I agree with GPS85

I learned with ours
You can run 80lbs of downforce on Delta and still not have much blue on the map 


But on our soils
The drier the soil gets or lumpy in worked ground you need to increase the delta's downforce to hold the furrow's  V so the seed get to the bottom of furrow before you start adjusting depth on gauge wheels
(extra lbs hold the sidewalls from collapsing)

I run 120-150lbs most time with ours with 3in wheels on a deere
