The biological "thing" has been around for longer than you have been alive, and you can include soil amendments in that category if you want too.
I remember one such biological in the 70's, it was called mycrop it was flown on with a plane as soon as the frost was gone. It was pretty popular in our area for a few years, then it too faded away.

That's just one example of the many that have come and gone.
the only real biological that works here is manure, and it isn't all that "wonderful".
