Subject: Lime incorporation

I have always thought lime needed to be incorporated to bind to soil (calcium carbonate has a positive charge, soil is negative). A lot of farmers around here do not mix it in as we have many perennial crops. Its applied on top of the crop and rainfall works it in supposedly.

Others apply it on top of already worked and leveled ground and ever so lightly work it in via harrow. The dust from the harrow is extremely white, are they losing lime in the form of dust? Sure looks like it...

How do you handle (or dont) lime incorporation?
