Galena IL
You have to do what you want to do. That being said I’ll make a couple suggestions. Most farms in Illinois with rolling Ground fall into what I consider the 1/3 law. Each Farm has A third of the best ground in the state of Illinois, a third of the farm is about average with the other farms in the state of Illinois, and a third of it is about the poorest ground in the state.
23 acres of corn silage will feed 100 Cows for about 150 days.
63 acres of hay will feed 100 cows for about 150 days.
Ground that gets covered with manure grows really good corn silage.

I would put my poorest ground in pasture, average ground in hay, and leave the best in corn.
30 Years ago when I got my first beef cows I thought someday if I could just sell one pot load of fats a year Life would be good. We now sell about 25 pot loads of fat a year. Life is good!! Good luck..... Dennis
