It depends, sports mode on most variations gives you more power but it will all be rather wild and easy to crash, if it's borderline and you can't make progress be ready to switch into it.
Bear in mind that wind 100 feet up will invariably be considerably higher than at ground level. 
Try to go upwind initially at least to better assess conditions, so it doesn't get swept away from you.
Both landing and taking off will risk prop touch down, you need a sheltered spot, perhaps hand catch to retrieve it.

A risky period is round sunset and sunrise when wind often falls light but rapidly picks up again.
