West Central Iowa | I sell bulls and for heifers will typically recommend bulls in the best half of the breed for CED and BW. That means if a bull has a CED of +7 or higher and/or a BW of +1.5 or lower he could be a candidate for the buyer. Accuracy is important as well. Obviously many other factors should be considered to make a final decision.
If you google "Angus percentile" and open up the link it will give you a chart for all EPDs and what percentile they are against all other registered animals in the breed. If they are in the top 1% of the breed, they are a desirable candidate for that trait while animals in the 95% are least desirable for that trait. With some EPDs, the higher number the better, with other EPDs, the lower the number (or even negative) the better.
