I believe you are using the term "high carbon soils".  I don't think you are wanting to use that term.  More accurate might be to say "high organic matter soils".  Organic matter takes into account both the carbon and nitrogen in the appropriate ratios needed to make organic matter. So, when the organic matter breaks down, both the carbon and nitrogen are released.  But that is different than "High Carbon soils".
