Finding telescoping box tubing that fits snuggly is a tall order. Most box tubing has a nasty weld seam in the inside that makes telescoping tough and it is hard to match up inside and outside dimensions. You can make it work on small thin tubes but 4 and 6 inch is much harder. You may need to rethink your design. Tall aircraft wing jacks have been around forever and you can find some on the web and see how they are made. Emerson has some tall jack you could check out too.
